First FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup at the end of the world – all eyes turn to Ushuaia
The Super Continental Cup in the new Olympic event of Freestyle Ski slopestyle was held at Ushuaia (ARG) on 31st August. Organised by the Brazilian Confederation of Snow Sports, it was the first official test of the event held in Latin America.

All eyes now turn to the main event of the South American Freestyle Skiing season, when the first ever South American FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup in slopestyle will be held on 6th and 7th September in Ushuaia. The sport will make its Olympic debut in Sochi (RUS) in 2014.

Grass Ski World Cup terminates in Rettenbach
On 1st and 2nd September, Rettenbach, a community in the Southern Burgenland of Austria staged the finals of the FIS Grass Ski World Cup 2012. Featuring a world class starting field, some 2000 spectators saw the elite of Grass Skiing racing in slalom, super-G and super combined events. [More]
Freestyle aerialists make a splash at Mondial AcrobatX
Before Freestyle Skiing action continues this week in Argentina, Canadian Freestyle aerialists Sabrina Guerin and Travis Gerrits have triumphed at the eighth annual Mondial AcrobatX water ramp FIS competition at the Centre National d’Entraînement Acrobatique Yves LaRoche (CAN) on 2nd September.

Guerin was joined on the podium by Russia’s Assoli Slivets and teammate Melissa Corbo. 2012 Crystal Globe winner Olivier Rochon and Jonathan Vellner, both Canada, were second and third on the men’s side.

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) and NBC Sports Network have announced to partner for historic first-ever U.S. live TV broadcasts of FIS disciplines, in particular FIS Audi Ski World Cups, to bring the excitement of ski sports into American homes. [More]

Jean-Baptiste Grange trains hard return to good shape for the next season
French Alpine star Jean-Baptiste Grange claimed the gold medal in the men’s slalom in the 2011 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER). Ulrich Wehling - 20 years with FIS retiring as Race Director
On Saturday 1st September 2012 at the Summer Grand Prix in Oberstdorf (GER), Ulrich “Uli” Wehling served as FIS Nordic Combined Race Director for the final time after 20 years of loyal and dedicated service to the International Ski Federation and the sport of Nordic Combined. Having joined FIS in Oberhofen on 1st September 1992, Uli has led the sports technical and administrative sides of Nordic Combined as the FIS Race Director for two decades. [More]

Having served as Nordic Combined Coordinator since 1st May 2011, Lasse Ottesen (NOR), will succeed Ulrich Wehling as FIS Nordic Combined Race Director. Lasse will be supported by Jan Rune Grave (NOR) as Assistant Race Director and Guntram Kraus (GER) as Equipment Controller. [More]
