Another exciting ladies’ Ski Jumping World Cup season will get underway this coming weekend. Norway’s Lillehammer will play host to the first event of the FIS Ski Jumping ladies’ World Cup presented by Viessmann on 6th and 7th December 2013.

With a positive snow-control, everything is set for the 2014 winter's second World Cup stop at Montafon (AUT) on 6th-8th December 2013. After the FIS Snowboard World Cup season officially got underway at the end of August with a halfpipe and slopestyle event in Cardrona (NZL), it is now time for the snowboard cross athletes to take centre stage competing in the first Northern Hemisphere event.

Janne Leskinen, CEO of Ski Sport Finland, was announced as Secretary General of the 2017 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti (FIN). Leskinen will begin his new position in spring 2014 shortly after the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi (RUS).

The Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2020 will be awarded to a city that has never hosted an Olympic Games – a first for the Olympic Movement. The cities of Brasov (ROU) and Lausanne (SUI) submitted their applications to the IOC to host the 3rd Winter YOG by the 28th November 2013 deadline.
