Australia’s international ski marathon the Kangaroo Hoppet was held on 23rd August at Falls Creek in northeast Victoria. Sunshine and great racing conditions greeted the 1000 plus competitors from 24 nations entered in the three race distances of 42km, 21km, and 7km.

Swiss Ski legend Karl Molitor (born 29th June 1920) passed away on 25th August 2014 at the age of 94 years. Molitor is the most successful ski racer in the history of the classic Lauberhorn races in the Swiss alpine resort of Wengen, having won eleven races there in his career.
