Em Lonsdale at the Women's Winter X Games Ski Superpipe

January 22, 2008 - British Skier Em Lonsdale (23) has made the 12 woman entry list for the toughest ski Halfpipe competition on the planet - ESPN's X Games. Em who started her skiing career at Kendal ski centre is now based in Mammoth in the USA over the winter months. Em is extremely excited by the challenge as it is the first time she has gained entry to the event. She is Britain's top Halfpipe skier having won the British Championships on a number of occasions as well as podiuming in US and European events and has been selected to compete for GB in World Cup Halfpipe. Em would like to thank her sponsors Fat Face and Movement without whose help she wouldn't have reached the final.

Entry to X Games is strictly by invitation and includes the best riders in their featured disciplines. Other Halfpipe entrants include World Cup leader and X Games Champion Sarah Burke and US open Champion Jen Hudak. The event takes place on Friday the 25th of Jan in Aspen, Colorado,USA.

January 28, 2008 - In a an immensely strong and the highest level final in the Women's event, Em Lonsdale (23) took 9th place. Em, Britains top Halfpipe skier went into the competition with one tactic, to ski her heart out, which paid dividends as she jumped ahead of X Games regulars and almost certainly booked herself a spot in next years competition as well as going down in history as the first british Skier to Qualify for Halfpipe skiings equivalent of the Olympics.

Her run of grabs and spins was put down with consistency and style and would have taken 5th place in 2007's X Games competition, a mark of how the standards in the women's event is surging ahead. Em is superstoked, intending to have some fun at the post competition celebrations before the hard work of training starts in preparation for the US Open at Copper Mountain on Sunday 3rd Feb.

Em who started her skiing career at Kendal ski centre is now based in Mammoth in the USA over the winter months. Entry to ESPNS X Games is strictly by invitation and includes the best riders in their featured disciplines.

Sarah Burke in a repeat of her recent World Cup victory in Les Contamines took 1st place. Mirjam Jaeger scorched into second place pushing Jen Hudak into third place, reversing the silver and bronze positions from the World Cup.
