The FIS Technical Committee Meetings concluded on 7th October 2017 in Zurich (SUI) after four full days. Today’s FIS Newsflash will deliver brief updates on the main areas addressed in Cross-Country Skiing, Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined, Alpine Skiing, Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski.
All proposals are subject to approval by the FIS Council at its next meeting on 18th November 2017 at the FIS Headquarters in Oberhofen (SUI).

Cross-Country Skiing
The Sub-Committee for World and Continental Cups discussed a new prize money distribution split for individual World Cup and stage World Cup competitions.

The meetings in Ski Jumping focused primarily on a review of the FIS Grand Prix this summer and presentation of calendar drafts for summer 2018 as well as winter 2017/18 and 2018/19.

In Nordic Combined, the men’s World Cup calendar was discussed. New elements include an opening mini-tour with three events in Ruka (FIN) in the 2017/18 season and in Lillehammer (NOR) in the 2018/19 winter.

The Alpine Executive Board, Sub-Committees and Working Groups finalised preparations for the upcoming season. While there were no major rule changes, a number of modifications were discussed and draft calendars for the upcoming seasons were presented.

Media invited to FIS Forum Alpinum in Soelden
The Forum has become an event that provides an in-depth preview of the upcoming season. FIS President Gian Franco Kasper will take part in a question and answer session followed by information from the FIS Race Directors Atle Skaardal and Markus Waldner, who will discuss activities and innovations for the upcoming season.
