Cross country skiing hits the headlines
Wasn't it great to see cross country skiing hit the news when Pippa Middleton raced in the Vasaloppet
earlier this month? Not only did our sport get some welcome coverage through an athletic and
glamorous young woman but she also finished in a very good time and raised an impressive amount of money for charity.
If you missed the coverage, you find a link to an article at
article also contains the race results for Club members who competed in the Bieg Piastow races in Poland.
What are you doing in the 2012-13 season?
As this season's skiing finishes so it's time to start planning for 2012-13.
The Club's ace ski trip organiser, Paddy Field, has already been hard at work so you'll find details of some
of next season's trips on the website already. For more details see
http://www.londonnordic.org.uk/home2/2012/3/15/new-cross-country-skiing-trips-2012-2013-season.html - the message to Club members
is get your name down quickly, places are disappearing as fast as glasses of cold beer after a hard day's skiing.
And things to do until your next ski trip
Make sure you've noted the Club's forthcoming activities in your diary, beginning with a walk [don't forget your poles]
on 14 April on Dunstable Downs, see
You can find an outline of the year's activities at
http://www.londonnordic.org.uk/calendar-2012/ - more details of individual events will follow soon.
Where did you go in 2012?
Photos and reports of your skiing trips would be really welcome for the website and newsletter
everyone enjoys hearing about fellow members' experiences on snow so do send them in. Remember
too that the Club has a Facebook group page where other photos and news snippets appear
And don't be shy about your race results, email those too so we can see just how many races this active Club participated in.
Regards from Norway where the snow is still holding despite record high temperatures!
