Roller Ski News – 4th March 2008

Just a short note - someone pointed out that the 4-wk skating course runs over Easter Saturday, which is not ideal. As Easter is early this year, we have a good chance to run an uninterrupted course in March / April, which is the best time of the year to be out rollerskiing.

This learn-to-skate rollerski course will now take place from 11.30-13.30 over the 4 Saturdays from 29th March (rather than 15th March).

These are unchanged, the next 2 coming up are on 30 March and 27 April and already have a number of bookings. I've also added a another late summer date, 23rd August. I'm hoping to hold another couple of 1-day courses in May-July, but the Dorney venue is probably unavailable (due to regattas and triathlons) so I'm researching different possibilities.

You will see a couple of new pictures on the website homepage. The large picture of rollerskiers is from Lake Placid in the US where they have a race in the autumn - it takes them along a main road from a forested area at the bottom, up into the mountains (which are covered in frost not snow).

The cross-country skiers behind them are at the Skarverennet, Geilo, Norway in April 2007 - having learnt to rollerski in spring last year, they went onto snow and took part in this laid-back, end of season race.
