Snowsport England - " Search for new Board members"

Could you help?

Snowsport England is looking for 3 new Board members, These are voluntary positions on the Board of Snowsport England (the company name being The English Ski Council Ltd).

In addition to the normal duties of a company director, we have identified some specific requirements, which are shown below. Ideally, we are looking for members each of whom covers more than one area of requirement, with potentially one or more coming from outside snow sports (for example from another sport, or from business).

As a minimum, Board members attend face-to-face board meetings (approx 4 times a year); telephone conferences; chair or join committees and working groups, and generally get involved in the sporting activities of our membership.

The aim of Snowsport England is to increase participation in, and support performance in, snow sports. We focus on the disciplines of Snowboarding, Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and Freestyle; and to do this, we support participants, competitors, families, volunteers, officials and coaches.

This is an exciting time to be involved in snow sports, and these roles are enjoyable and satisfying.

If you feel you could fulfil these requirements or bring other suitable skills to Snowsport England, or if you would like more information, then please call/send your CV to Tim Fawke, Chief Executive, Snowsport England on 0121 501 2314 or via email at: tim@snowsportengland.org.uk

1. Disciplines: Snowsport England covers a variety of disciplines and it has been identified that the board is very much Alpine based. We would like to find an applicant that could bring knowledge of Nordic, Snowboarding and Freestyle.

2. Athletes and young people: We would like to hear at first hand a stronger voice from athletes and young people, and other less well represented groups in snowsport.

3. Coaching: Coaching development is a hugely important area of development for Snowsport England and this needs more support with a board member having direct experience as a sports coach.

4. Business/Marketing: Snowsport England is developing a new strategy and we are looking for experience in areas such as implementing strategic change, marketing or sports development/ management.
